A rug that is part of the floor
A woven rug has to be vacuumed, cleaned, straightened at the corners and replaced when it wears through by the door. A mosaic rug lies flush with the floor and is part of it: it does not shift, does not fray, does not fade in the sun, and has no edge for a heel or a suitcase wheel to catch. With daily traffic in a hall, that is a difference you can see after a few years.
Where they usually go
The hall and entrance – the area seen from the threshold and the one that wears fastest. A rosette under the chandelier in a living room or on the axis of the entrance. The entrance area of a restaurant, hotel or office, where the rug both decorates and sets the direction of movement. A border running along the walls, which gives order to large, uniform surfaces. Rosette, rug, border
A rosette is a composition on a circle or an oval, usually under a chandelier; it works most strongly in a symmetrically planned room. A rectangular rug with a border marks out a zone: a dining area, a seating area, a passage. A border alone – a band of ornament with no centre – works where the floor should stay quiet and the room needs only a frame.
Material and floor level
We usually make rugs in marble, travertine and natural stone, sometimes in ceramics. The work is delivered in sections with a setting diagram, and the thickness is matched to the surrounding floor so that everything finishes at one level. Price and how it runs
A mosaic costs from 4,000 to 15,000 PLN per m². The price depends on the complexity of the design, the number of details and the materials – a simple border and an elaborate rug with foliate ornament are two different bands. The stages: dimensions and a floor plan, design, hand-made execution, delivery in sections, installation by us or by your own fitter to the diagram. The estimate is free.

Does the rug sit flush with the floor?
Yes, that is the point. We match the thickness of the mosaic to the surrounding floor, which is why we ask what will be around it – boards, tile or stone – and how thick it is.
Is mosaic suitable over underfloor heating?
Yes. Stone and marble conduct heat well. The usual rules apply: the screed must be heated through before installation, and a flexible adhesive rated for underfloor heating must be used.
Can the rug be made to an exact size?
Yes, that is how we do it. We have no fixed sizes – the composition is drawn to the room, so the ornament does not break off at the threshold or disappear under furniture.
Will tiles around it have to be cut?
Usually not. We design the rug together with the floor layout, so cutting is kept to a minimum. If the floor is already laid, we work to the existing setting-out.
Who lays the rug?
We can lay it ourselves, or deliver the work on numbered sections with a diagram, in which case your own tiler or stonemason can fit it.
